Terms & Conditions
Dale Driver Training
1. Bookings and payment
Lessons must be paid for at least five days in advance, unless otherwise agreed. Unpaid bookings may be released to another learner. Lesson prices and durations are agreed when booking.
Block Booking Validity
All block-booked lesson hours must be used within 3 months of the date of purchase. Any unused credit after this period will expire and is non-refundable.
Christmas gift vouchers are valid for 3 months from Christmas Day and all included lesson hours must be used by 25 March.
If a learner takes an extended break from lessons, future availability cannot be guaranteed. Any extension to the 3-month period will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of Dale Driver Training.
2. Cancellations
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange a lesson by text, WhatsApp, phone or email. With less notice, a charge may apply up to the lesson price, reflecting the loss incurred if the slot cannot be filled. In an emergency, contact me as soon as possible.
Illness & Sickness
Please do not attend your driving lesson if you are unwell with an illness that may be contagious. Driving lessons take place in a small, enclosed space for an extended period, and attending while unwell risks passing illness to your instructor and other learners, potentially resulting in cancelled lessons and loss of income. My standard 48-hour cancellation policy applies to illness; however, I understand that genuine illness can develop unexpectedly, and for a first short-notice cancellation due to illness I may, at my discretion, waive or reduce the cancellation charge as a gesture of goodwill. Repeated short-notice cancellations will normally be charged. If you arrive for a lesson clearly unwell or with symptoms of a potentially contagious illness, I reserve the right to cancel the lesson and it may still be chargeable. If you are genuinely unwell, please contact me as early as possible rather than attending simply to avoid a cancellation fee.
3. Arriving for lessons
Please be ready at the agreed time and meeting point. If you have not arrived or contacted me within 15 minutes, I may leave and apply the cancellation policy. If I am late, any lost time will be made up or refunded.
4. Your driving licence and eyesight
You must hold a valid licence and provide your licence details and a check code before your first lesson. Tell me about any changes to your driving entitlement. You must meet the legal eyesight requirements and wear glasses or contact lenses whenever needed.
5. Fitness to drive
Please arrive fit to drive, wearing suitable clothing and footwear. Tell me about any illness, medication or other circumstances that could affect safety. Lessons may be stopped or postponed if driving would be unsafe, including suspected impairment by alcohol or drugs. Any charge will reflect the circumstances and loss incurred.
6. Your tuition vehicle
Lessons take place in a maintained, dual-controlled vehicle insured for driving tuition and practical tests. Please treat the vehicle respectfully and follow safety instructions.
7. Driving tests
Agree the date, time and test centre with me before booking or changing your test, and send your confirmation promptly. Test-day use of the car requires a minimum two-hour booking at your normal lesson rate, paid five days beforehand. Any additional time will be agreed in advance. This is separate from the DVSA test fee. The car is available only when I consider you ready to take your test safely. I will discuss any concerns with you as early as possible. DVSA rules apply separately to cancelling or changing your test.
8. Keeping test-ready
Long waiting times may mean you become test-ready well before your test date. You can agree a break from lessons with me, but must resume a two-hour lesson each week for the four to six weeks before your test. We’ll agree the restart date and book these lessons before your break, helping you maintain your skills and confirming you’re still ready to take the test safely.
9. Changes and refunds
If I need to cancel because of illness, vehicle problems or unsafe conditions, you can choose a replacement lesson or a refund for that lesson. Unused lesson credit is subject to the Block Booking Validity period. If you cancel your remaining tuition, any refund will be calculated after deducting valid outstanding charges and reasonable losses directly resulting from your cancellation.
10. Questions or concerns
Please contact me at hello@daledrivertraining.com or 07359 119385 so we can resolve any concerns. These terms do not affect your statutory consumer rights.
